Leather jacket painting is a new service we offer through a partnership with Plaid® Crafts, a company located in Norcross, Georgia. We can now paint leather, vegan and vinyl items with their Leather Studio paint and the results are just amazing!
Inkwell Designers℠ and Plaid® announced their partnership early this week after our CEO, Desiree Colonna, took a painting class at their office with Donna Dewberry, founder of the One Stroke Painting method. “Donna’s method of painting is an amazing way to paint realistic florals on almost anything. I couldn’t wait to try leather jacket painting which has become really popular with brides in the past few years.”
Chris Williams from their marketing department, was more than happy to send Inkwell some sample bottles to play with. Desiree went to her local Goodwill and found a jacket she could experiment on along with some purses.
The results were amazing. The color dried quickly with a heat gun and Desiree was able to do the two-tone method of painting she was taught by Donna rather easily with the paints, even though they weren’t as thick as the acrylic paint she learned with. The paint is permanent after drying 24 hours.
The results of the leather jacket painting experiment were beautiful! The paints were bright, colorful and easy to work with. There are even metallic and glitter paints offered in the leather painting line.
Leather jacket painting is now being offered to both brides and event customers. We can also add leather painting to small leather goods such as perfume, wallets, purses, key fobs, passport holders, etc. The paint wears very well with normal wear and dries to a beautiful gloss.
